Vision Active

Vision Active provides programmes for children who enjoy or want to experience achievement through physical recreation.

 Achieving

Achievement in sport should come from the endeavour rather than the outcome alone.

Vision Charitable Trust

Vision X Charitable Trust was established in 2006 based on a simple philosophy and the belief that participation and success in sport will lead to an increased ability to succeed in life.

Since then our focus has evolved to include the great variety of interests the children of the community have including: arts and crafts, drama, new experiences and life skills.

Our focus on positive life-skills gives children the confidence to make constructive choices and decisions throughout their lives.

Achieving

A Vision Kid should never fail.

Though they are young and may not yet fully appreciate the impact on their lives that such positive involvement may have, there is no doubt that positive experiences in childhood and positive life-lessons learned, will affect the decisions they will make later in life.

Children who enjoy what they do are more likley to experience success. Having achieved at one thing, not matter how small or apparently insignificant it may see, the personal confidence they gain is likely to drive children to attempt new experiences.

This can impact on their home lives, performance at school and how they fit into and influence their community

Vision Active has kicked off for 2009, Tuesdays afterschool at the Taita Community Centre, with new members and increased numbers overall.

Its great to see so many kids returning and bringing along their friends to join in the fun.

Vision Touch. This year we have two teams, entered in the Avalon Park competition.

The Vision Community Garden is established. This is another new challenge for the kids. Each kid who has chosen to be involved is in charge of his or her own plot and plants. This is not just about growing and eating good healthy food, it is about getting on with your neighbours, a sense of the support of a community.

Kids will learn that by working together with the person in the neighbouring plot, they can share the duties and maintenance each garden. They need to ensure that their plot is tendered and watered and if they cant do it each day, they should come to an arrangement with their neighbour.

Bunnings have been great in supporting the garden project.

Vision Arts Community

The Vision Community Arts Centre, Thursdays afterschool at St Matthews Church Hall, is also up and running.  The numbers are building each week and the kids are really beginning to open up and express themselves.

While a lot of kids naturally enjoy performing and art, it can sometimes be difficult for them to express themselves in front of a group.

We want the kids to feel safe, not judged and not threatened when they try something a little different.

Each session begins with an art project, followed by a range of games and activities designed to lead kids into feeling confident about peforming. To do this we have to provide an environment of 'trust' which is the theme of our current programme.

Postcards from Australia

We want the kids to learn to not say 'no' when faced with the opportunity to try something new.

Judging by all of the smiles and laughter, the kids are feeling pretty relaxed and are enjoying themselves.
