WELLINGTON BONSAI CLUB

Club Programme

Our programme includes talks, demonstrations and workshops in line with the seasonal requirements of bonsai (“the bonsai year or calendar”). Examples of topics could include: choosing plants and sourcing material; shaping, pruning, wiring and clamping trees; airlayering and grafting; horticultural principles, pests and diseases; winter protection and maintenance; indoor bonsai; redesigning existing bonsai; carving; the role of deadwood on trees - the art and various methods of its creation; creating landscapes; growing trees on or over rocks; photographing bonsai.

As well, at our monthly meetings we encourage questions, sharing information, and displaying bonsai in their various stages of development. We have a comprehensive library available to members.

The best learning occurs as you develop your own trees. You are the artist and the horticulturalist. You will determine what works best and looks best for your trees.
