- Centre Fours – Congratulations to Betty Hicks, Sherrin Warren, Christine Robertson & Liz Dibley for their meritorious and historic win in the Women’s Centre Fours.
- Congratulations to Winners of the Women’s 2 Day Pairs played on 29 and 30 December at Hutt as part of the inaugural Hutt Valley Bowls Week. They were Pat Simpson & Val Bredican of the Lower Hutt Club. Our Christine Robertson and Susan Rudd were Runners Up. We had a full number of entries thanks to some aggressive marketing by a team led by Sherrin Warren. Thanks to Sherrin and all others involved in the organisation of this most successful event.
- It has been reported that “early bird” Jimmy Cox who arrived early on New Year’s Day to catch the worms working in his beautifully maintained gardens is still in shock from the sight of a topless number throwing up a set of size 4’s. Such was his panic that he cannot recall whether the apparition was male or female. Perhaps the centre of Jimmy’s unpleasant experience should be identified and given a crash course in the Dress Code.
- Readers of this will no doubt include visitors who participatedin the Club’s traditional New Year Men’s Pairs, which this year forms part of the inaugural Hutt Valley Bowls Week programme run in conjunction with Silverstream Club. Thanks for your entries guys and we hope that your experience will be such that you will be attracted back in 2010. The break next year is of course because the Nationals are being held in Wellington with our Club as the HQ.
Next Greenside Café night is Friday 16 January. We warmly welcome patronage from all our Bowls mates. If you would like to experience some good grub (on from 6 pm) and a bit of camaraderie please fell free to telephone a booking to 566 3839 or place your name on the whiteboard in the hall. John Carter will have his name up already so it must be good.

Expect to see more of this logo about through the 2008/2009 Season. The Management Committee has resolved on the recommendation of the Manager Bowls to replace the "Speed Bowls" programme with Mates in Bowls, the Bowls NZ franchised programme. It would not be too early to commence recruiting business house teams. The MiB season will commence towards the end of October.
